And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music. -Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

It's Oscars Season Once Again

Yahoo! The nominations for the 2005 Oscars are out, and I'm so thankful that most of the nominated films are either "now showing" or "coming soon" here in Singapore. My flatmate and I (and maybe other friends) have decided to intersperse watching these movies in our busy school schedules. I'll make it a personal goal to watch all the nominated films before the Oscars night on February 27. We are watching The Aviator tonight!

These are the films that we (especially I) plan to see all throughout the Oscars season:

1. The Aviator (now showing)
2. Hotel Rwanda (now showing)
3. Finding Neverland (now showing)
4. Ray (coming soon)
5. Million Dollar Baby (coming soon)

6. Kinsey (now showing)
7. A Very Long Engagement (now showing)
8. Being Julia (now showing)
9. Bad Education (now showing)
10. The Sea Inside (now showing)

And some films that I am compelled to watch (grr...wala kasing pirated DVD's rito)
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
2. The Passion of the Christ (hehe...)

I just posted the list above as a reminder to myself that I'm not all geek-hood here. Hu-huh. A list of the books that I am reading is next!

Hannah Pitkin on theorizing politics

"In order to be understood, he (political theorist) must speak in terms familiar to his audience, from within a conceptual framework and an understanding of the world that they share. Yet he wants to convey new information to them, but rather to change the terms, the conceptual framework through which they presently organize information"

This is a photo of the Singapore National Studium, where I watched Sting's concert last Monday, and where, well, huge events here in Singapore take place. This was taken from the veranda of the Elechicon's penthouse at Pebble Bay, where, as I said in the previous photo, lived for a while.

This is the top-view of the condo where I stayed after I returned from my trip to Europe, it is Tita Mina's and Tito Erwin's place at Pebble Bay, here in Singapore. I'm now living in Normanton Park--which is not really that bad. I'll post pictures of NP soon as well. I'm just really so happy with this flickr thing. Haha

finally, thanks to flickr

Now, I finally know how to post pictures here in my blog. I will upload many other pictures soon. This will do for now--an attempt to be a photographer while I was on the train from Munich (Germany) to Strasbourg (France). I was just amazed at how the sunlight, despite the snow outside, was able to produce that glare in the window. Hmm.

This week, I'll post pictures of/from: Singapore, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Strasbourg and Paris. And oh, I have two or three pictures of Doha, the capital of Qatar. haha

Why 22?

No, it is not because I am 22. It is because I have always used felt, in many instances of my life, that I was in a "catch-22", a situation, a location, where I am simply lost, and bound for listlessness. Then, somehow, through some divine sleight-of-hand, I come out of it.
